I have a big problem- who hasn't!! Does anyone know where the original papers are for Sir Bernard Burkes Collection of Wills for forming Irish Pedigrees which is on the LDS library site and which I ordered on film 227873 for the item I required.
The LDS states that it was copied from the original records which are held at Belfast Public Record Office.(PRONI). I contacted them to ask if they knew where the information was taken from. They informed me that they didn't hold the originals but they are at the SOG in London. So I applied to them only to be told that they do not know anything about it and that they think it may be the College of Arms in London I need to apply to. I had already asked the Dublin Herald Office if they knew anything about it and they suggested I apply to the C of A because that is where some of Sir Bernard Burke's papers were deposited by his son, but 'passing the Burke' springs to mind and I feel as though I am going round in circles. I have e-mailed the C of A now and await their reply with bated breath!! Meanwhile if anyone else can help I should be very grateful. sincerely Eileen
