I was very pleased to hear from Karen Basile this week. Karen runs
a terrific web site:
Genealogy Software Springboard
http://www.toltbbs.com/~kbasile/software.html
This site lists each of the currently available genealogy software
programs. On each page you will find details about each program:
features, availability, requirements, etc. One of the best things
about this site is the collection of Pros and Cons for each program
- submitted by actual users of the programs! Karen hadn't worked
on the site for a while, but I am happy to let you know that she is
busy at work on it again. Look for many wonderful bits of info here.

I added a new category this week:
Schools
http://www.CyndisList.com/schools.htm
This category is meant to contain links to sites with historical
information about schools, class lists, school rosters, etc.

Evan's latest: this week he heard me sneeze and he said "Bless
you." He also learned how to sing Happy Birthday for my parents,
and he now pronounces the name of the town in which we live -
Puyallup (Pew-Al-Up) Evan says "Pee-poop" and then adds (on his
own) "Washin" Isn't he a clever boy? ;-)

I returned home this week from a seminar in Phoenix, Arizona with
the Arizona Genealogical Computer Interest Group. This was one of
the friendliest groups of people I've ever had the pleasure of
meeting. It was a very nice weekend and the seminar was a lot of
fun. I came home with another cold/flu bug of some sort. I wonder
if I might be allergic to that bright, yellow spot in the sky down
there. I have no idea what that was because we don't have that sort
of thing here in Washington this time of year. My thanks to
everyone at AGCIG for making me feel so welcome!

to educate yourselves. Please don't write and ask me for further
help on this because I honestly don't know any more than I'm

PRESS RELEASE FROM SIERRA ONLINE:
"First Web-Interactive Family History Talk Show To Debut This
Saturday, March 6
History-making Net event to feature celebrity Internet Genealogist
Cyndi Howells
Bellevue, Wash. Family history enthusiasts and press are invited to
become a part of history by participating in the first ever
web-interactive genealogy talk show which will debut
internationally at www.talkspot.com on Saturday, March 6th.
The first ever Generations: Find Your Roots Webcast will occur
online from 4-6 p.m. Pacific time (7-9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time).
Cyndi Howells, creator of the highly acclaimed Web site, Cyndis
List of Genealogy Sites on the Internet, will kick-off the show as
the first guest.
Genealogy fans can share in the conversation this Saturday evening
with Cyndi and show host Elon Gasper while viewing family charts,
pictures and video captures to illustrate certain points of
discussion. The audio portion will be received over the computer
speakers while participants follow along visually through
interactive chat and pictures broadcast onto their monitor via the
Net. Audience members will be able to ask questions of Cyndi and
Elon, as well as share their own personal experiences to help
others who are also researching their family heritage.
TalkSpot is the first project launched by Worldstream, an
innovative new Internet broadcast company that integrates the
elements of radio talk shows with the interactive chat and
multimedia features of the Internet to create a dynamic new medium.
Audience members log-in to the TalkSpot web site and become an
integral part of the discussion by participating in online chats
with the show host, featured guests and each other.
The Generations: Find Your Roots Show will be broadcast online
every Saturday evening and will feature different guests, new tips
on family research, news and stories shared from listeners. Each
week the Webcast will explore new surnames, regions and various
topics of heritage exploration.
Meet the Host The shows host, Elon Gasper, is an avid genealogy
researcher and senior designer of the Generations family heritage
software line from Sierra Home. He has traced his family roots back
to the 13th century, uncovering links in his family to Salem
witches, Mayflower passengers, Scottish nobility, and both Union &
Confederate soldiers. Elon is following in the footsteps of his
great-great-aunt, a noted genealogist and Fellow of the Institute
of American Genealogy.
Premier Guest Cyndi Howells is one of the foremost Internet
genealogists, author of Netting Your Ancestors and creator of the
award winning site www.cyndislist.com. Cyndis List provides links
to more than 41,050 web sites for genealogists.

for the announcements and availability.

ABOUT UPDATES TO THE SITE:
I have thousands of requests for links backed up in my
mailbox right now. I'm working through 100-200 messages
each day. I promise I will get to everyone as soon as
humanly possible. In the meantime, my priorities are to
correct broken links first, followed by improvements to the
list and additions of new links. Please do NOT send me
repetitive requests for links to your web site. This only delays
things longer because it keeps me sorting through the daily
e-mail instead of working on the links.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE "NUMBERS":
~~I add approx. 1,000 new links per month.
~~I correct approx. 500 broken links per month.
~~There are almost 7,000 subscribers to this mailing list.
~~There are more than 47,000 visitors to the web site each day.
~~I receive more than 200 e-mail messages each day.
~~There really is only ONE of me!
