DESCRIPTION: Piotr Becomes Peter is a Family History website that
traces my heritage through my mother's parents, Peter William Gromniak and
Anna Amelia Krawiec. My Grandfather was born Piotr Gromniak in
Osiek-Radom, Poland and came to this country as a three year boy. By age
eight he left school becoming first a coal breaker boy, kicking the slate
and rubble from iron troughs that carried the coal from the breaker to
railroad cars below.. Later he drove mules in the mines and ultimately
became a full fledged Miner working in various Anthracite Coal Mines
located in Northeastern Pennsylvania during the first half of the 20th
century. When he died in 1993, more than 40 years after he had left this
line of work, he was still coughing up coal dust. Related Families
include: GROMNIAK, KRAWIEC, KRAVITZ, GRELLA, GRELOCH, GRAMSKY, BARGOWSKI,
KUPINEWICZ, ZIOLA.
