HERITAGE QUEST MAKES ACCURATE AND RELIABLE INDEX
FOR 1810 CENSUS AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME ON CD-ROM
All publicly available U.S. Census images digitized; 1790, 1800, 1810 and
1870 now indexed and available on CD-ROM.
Bountiful, UT (November 1, 2000) --Heritage Quest(r), the world's largest
commercial supplier of genealogy data and a subdivision of
SierraHome(tm), today announced the completion of the most accurate
and reliable index ever created for the 1810 U.S. Census. The company
recently finished a two-year process of digitizing all publicly available U.S.
Federal Census Records, from 1790 to 1920, and is now indexing each
year so that the information is more easily accessible, both on CD-ROMs
and online at GenealogyDatabase.com (available by subscription later this
year). The 1810 Census details 826,349 entries from 16 states
enumerated that year. More than 26,800 names overlooked in previous
indexes have been added. This index lists all heads of household from the
1810 Census, and leads researchers to the actual Census pages where
they can find more details on the household, including the number of free
white males and females in specific age categories, the names of slave
owners, and the number of slaves owned by each person.
Heritage Quest's precision indexing process, performed by trained
document extraction specialists, ensures that the information is the most
accurate and reliable available. The 1810 Census is indexed into seven
easily searchable categories, including surname, given name, state,
county, locality, the film number of the microfilm edition of the Census, and
the original Census record page number on which the information can be
found. Heritage Quest also publishes books detailing the same indexed
information for each state in the 1790, 1800, 1810 and 1870 Censuses.
