Deah,

The Emily Jane Dale that married William Burk in Boone Co., IN March 24, 1846
was the daughter of Squire Dale, son of James and Jane Arbuckle Dale. Emily
was born July 20, 1822 and my records indicate she was only married once.
She died February 24, 1847, either giving birth to her only child, Amanda, or
soon after. Emily is buried in the Dale cemetery.

Willam Burk remarried soon after Emily's death, and Amanda was raised by her
grandmother, Elizabeth Smith Dale, Emily's mother. Squire died in 1848.
There are court records documenting the fact that Amanda was Emily's heir in
a dispute over Squire's estate.
