This is a synopsis of information from the above approved DAR
application. I was amazed this quite early DAR information is not included
in the 1560 volume DAR database at Ancestry.com.
This is not a good copy of this application but I will try to do the
best job I can on it. This DAR application was included in the packet of
DANIEL information sent to me by Mrs. Lucy GRAY of Pensacola, FL. I will
capitalize all surnames, as appropriate.

Name: Isabel Daniel SMITH, wife of Clinton W. SMITH, 211 E. 4th Street,
Savannah, GA
Descendent of: John DANIEL (born July 7, 1757) served under Gen. TWIGGS from
Aug. 20, 1781 till the exclusion of the British from Ga. & and was killed by
Indians 1781
Approved Nov. 7, 1921
Ancestor was born near Wakes (sic) Co. NC (resided in Ga. from 1781) on the
17th day of July, 1757 and died in Wash. Co. Ga. on the (blank) day of Mar.,
1788.
Applicant was born in Tennille, County of Washington, State of Georgia
Descendency:
Chas. Elton DANIEL was born Nov. 1852 and his legal and lawful wife Mary
SMITH born 1853, died May 13, 1883, married Dec. 4, 1879
The said Chas. Elton DANIEL was the son of Sampson DANIEL, born Dec. 1804,
died 1885, and his legal wife, Mary SMITH.
The said Sampson DANIEL was the son of Joseph DANIEL, born May 1785 and died
Oct. 1849, and his legal wife Tempe Ann LEE (?) born Feb 21, 1789, died Mar
1, 1843, married 1810.
The said Joseph DANIEL was the son of John DANIEL born July 1757, died Mar
1785, and his lawful legal wife, Mary MASON, born (blank), died (blank),
married Apr. 11, 1787.

My Ancestor Services:
My ancestor, John DANIEL, served under Gen. TWIGGS, in the Fall of 1781
until the British were expelled from Ga. He was killed by the Indians in Mar
1788 near Daniel's Fort, 2 or three miles south of Reidsville (?), a fort he
built as protection he built against the Indians.
John Daniel's son, Joseph, was a non-commissioned officer in the War of
1812, his widow, 2nd wife, drew a pension.
Joseph Daniel's grand-son, Joseph Richard DANIEL, ??? Army, service in
the War between the States.
Markers for the grave of John DANIEL has been provided at the request of
Gen. John Lauson IRWIN Chapter of the DAR and will be placed by them, this
Spring. Request was made through Alice Vereen (or Vernon) SMITH, Vice
President, of Little chapter and descendent of John DANIEL.
The file in Ordinary's Office in Sandersville, Ga. are following land
grants - John DANIEL warrant dated Mar. 15, 1787 - 80 acres pine land near
Little Ohoopee; John DANIEL warrant dated Mar 5, 1787 - 120 acres swamp and
pine land with Little Ohoopee River flowing through it. The remainder of
his grants of 500 acres was give his widow, Mary, after his untimely death.
