Subject: Finding Danish ancestors

I notice there are several people looking for Danish ancestors, with very
little information to go on.
I'd like to raise awareness of a fairly new development in genealogy
research. It's called genealogy-driven DNA testing. The finer details of
this can be found by browsing the FamilyTreeDNA website:
http://www.familytreedna.com/
The most common way to participate has been to join a surname DNA project
group. Since Danish surnames are non-continuous before about 1850, I know of
no surname DNA project with a Danish focus. However, I was informed by FTDNA
that they do have a Welsh Patronymics Project. That group does not have a
narrow focus on any particular surname; they are mainly interested in the
quality of the Y-DNA matches.
Perhaps some people with continuous Danish male ancestry would consider
starting a Danish Patronymics DNA Project.
