I found out the details on the book I was looking for. Unfortunately it's
not available on Abebooks. I'm hoping that you or someone else on this list
might know of a Danish bookstore that I can contact online which carries
older or out of print used books.
The book in question was originally written in Danish by Palle Lauring,
translated by David Hohnen. It is called
"A History of Denmark", published by Høst og Søn,
ISBN 87-14-28695-5. My friends bought it new in Copenhagen, but quite a
number of years ago.
