Hi Martin,
This æ,ø and å problen is only a problem for all of us with a non-Danish
keyboard that don't have the æ ø and å keys.
I believe the same system works on all Win systems incl. older pre XP and
the new Vista Premium.
A good way to check is to go to the character map where you'll find all
kinds 'foreign' symbols and fonts -- and the codes needed to use one .
like to type an ø -- you hold down the Alt key type 0248 on the numbers keys
on the right side of the keyboard.
How do you get to the 'character map' I hear someone ask --
-- Start -- Accessories -- Systems Tools -- Character Map

Thanks Cai,
I have printed these instructions off and now I have to find out whether
WINDOWS PROFESSIONAL is the same as XP. Also what does the writer mean by
"Toggle between".
You have been a great help and I am learning ...but slowly

A Sognefoged is a the parish bailiff with some police powers.

PS: You really need to be able to use the extra Danish letters if searching
in Danish archives.
The reason being that they are different letters, the last 3 letters in the
Danish alphabet. ø is not just an o with a slash through it. Using an O when
an Ø (the 2nd last letter in the alphabet) is the letter makes it hard to
look alphabetically for something.
Here are several simple ways of doing it. (you don't need any special
programs).

Thanks Martin sorry I can't put the correct lines through 0's and dots and
circles over a's. I have the progam but can't use it very well ( at all).

Hey there,
I think my wordbook translates it to Parish Executive Officer - i.e the
local "sheriff" (Sort of)
You may also find Sogneråd and Sognerådsformand (Possibly not until the
1900's ?), which was the parish council, and the chairman (Formand) roughly
the local mayor.
Take care
Martin
