I do not know your John H(Henry?) Davidson from SC but mine was Reverand John Henry Davidson from Roane County Tennessee
My Grandmother was Ida Viola Davidson and she told me that her Rudders were Black Dutch from VA. Her skin was "Olive" and two of my sons were born with olive complexion. We do not know from whence it came but I am almost 100% Scotch and a letter written to John Henry in 1903 states that his is of Scotch-Irish Ancestry meaning that his ancestors were Scotts who migrated to Ireland before coming to America. They married members of their Clan and continued for hundreds of years. My mother is my 7th? cousin on my fathers side. I got the Davidson genes from both sides. I know because I had Smokey Mountain Labs check my DNA and then familytreedna.com found a cousin with a 36/37 match.
