Having just learned that my Shake line connects to Elizabeth Davis,
daughter of Hanover Davis and granddaughter of Hannicle Davis, I am eager
to find other Davis researchers who are working on this family -- or who
know something about it.
These Davises were in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, from the 1770s
onward. They lived in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, before that but may
also have lived in Frederick County, Maryland. The name of the Davis
immigrant (most likely a Palatine German whose name was anglicized) is not
known, and the women of this family are also unknown -- except that
Hanover's wife was Elizabeth.
The younger Elizabeth (daughter of Hanover), born 1758-63, married
Christopher/Christian Shake and moved with him to Kentucky.
