Subject: [DE-FREEDMEN] Fw: Black History Month Program in Cherry Hill
Date: Thu, 13 Feb 2003 11:11:02 -0500
In celebration of Black History Month, Cherry Hill Township, in conjunction with the Cherry Hill Minorities Civic Association, is sponsoring a community event on Sunday, February 23rd at 2 PM at the Cherry Hill Arts Center at Croft Farm.
One highlight of this FREE event will be a performance by the talented musical ensemble, Follow the Drinking Gourd. Named after a song used to guide slaves to freedom along the Underground Railroad, Follow the Drinking Gourd conveys the vitality of African-American heritage through a diverse musical experience, ranging from freedom songs to ragtime, jazz and more. The interactive performance, which includes singing, story-telling and dancing, will both entertain and educate guests of all ages. Tours of the historic Croft Farmhouse, once a stop along the Underground Railroad, will be offered following the 2 PM program.
If you have any questions, or require directions to the Arts Center, please call the Cherry Hill Township Recreation Department at (856) 488-7868.
We hope to see you on February 23rd!
