John Callahan married the widow Esther Staats about 1782 probably in New
Castle Co., Delaware. Is anyone aware of an Esther, wife of a Staats
about that time? I do have a deed dated 1800 from Elijah Staats of
Fayette Co., PA and John Callahan of Appoquinimink Hundred, New Castle
County for a "parsel of land falling to me (Elijah) by the death of my
Father Jacob Staats senior and also my share of land coming to me by the
death of my sister's son Jacob Irons." Was Jacob's wife Esther? And if
so, what was
her maiden name? Any help would be appreciated. ken wardell, westlake,
