Just found the mother of one of my Dean ancestors and wife of my earliest
Dean through a will of Keziah Williams. Since I transcribed it for my
notes, I thought I would past it here in case someone else can use the data.
Also a brief outline of what I have about the first couple of generation.

"Know all men by these present that I, Keziah Mitchel being of sound mind
[memory] and understanding do make this my last will and testament in manner
and form following:
After my death it is my desire that my Executors sell and [di..] pf ,y
real and personal estate and divide the proceeds after paying all my just
debts into four equal [parts]
1st I will and bequest unto my son Caleb Mitchel one fourth part of my
real and personal estate.
2nd I will and bequest unto my son William Mitchel one fourth part of my
real and person estate.
3rd I will and bequest unto my grandson James and my granddaughter
Caroline Mitchel one fourth part of the proceeds of my personal estate.
4th I will and bequest unto my Executors Caleb and William Mitchel in
trust for my daughter Brambly B. Deen and her children with the exception of
her son Simeon Deen one fourth part of the proceeds of my real and person
estate.
5th To make the fourth section of this will more explicit, I hereby
specify that I wish to exclude my grandson Simeon Dean from receiving any
portion of my estate as left to his mother in consideration of what he has
already received from his father - & I do hereby nominate, constitute &
appoint my sons Caleb & William Mitchel Exceutors to this my last will &
testament & do hereby revoke & make void all & every other will or wills by
me at any other time hertofore made & I do decalre this to be my last will &
testament in witness I have here unto set my hand & seal this the
twenty-fifth day of May one Thousand Eight hundred and fourty-one.

On 7th feb 1848 John Lake swore that he saw KeziaH Mitchell signe this will
and qualified William Mitchel executor. Caleb was not mentioned here -
Caleb did sign Warrant of Appraisment along with three appraisors on 28th
Feb, 1848.

"Exparte Robertson Dean, Petition of Citation filed Sept 1, 1851"
"The State of SC, Edgefield Dist, In Ordinary to John Hill, Esp, Ordinary of
Edgefield Dist. The humble petition of Robertson Dean respectfully sheweth
that by the last will and Testament of Keziah Mitchell, deceased, Keziah N.
Cook, Robert F. Dean, Amanda M. Dean, Augustus C. Dean, Mansfield Dean, and
Selina Dean, children of your petitioner, re entitled each to a small
legacy: That William Mitchell of the District and state aforesaid, was duly
qualified as Executor of said will: That a considerable time (perhaps three
years) has elapsed since [...] Mitchell has taken upon himself the
management and idstribution of the estate of said Keziah; and that he has
failed and refuses to render unto the said children their protortions under
said will, or to give account of his administration of said Estate as the
law directs. Wherefore, your Petitioner prays that such proceedings may be
had in said court of ordinary as in such case made and provided by law for
bringing executors and administrators to account...
