Subject: [DeCamp] DeCamp brick walls - #3: Joseph DeCamp of Canada
Date: Tue, 1 Jan 2002 20:06:34 EST
This is one of several postings that I will make about the "brick walls" that
I have run into. These are DeCamp families that I have been unable to
connect to the known descent from Laurens Jansen DeCamp.
Joseph DeCamp married Grace Moore. Records show only a single child, for
whom I have identified further descent for eleven generations. Their
daughter married a Marsh in 1788. The fact that all their known children
were born in Canada suggests that Joseph and Grace may have been loyalists
during the Revolution. Most of the family seems to have remained in Canada,
at various locations in Ontario.
It is interesting that there are extensive connections in other lines between
the DeCamp and Marsh families in Westfield, NJ. In addition, there is a
DeCamp-Shotwell marriage in this line, and the Shotwell family is also found
in pre-Revolutionary Westfield.
