Hi, folks

I'm Greg Lovelace, from Beaufort, Carteret County, North Carolina. I'm
working on deeds from early Tryon Co., NC and the area around the Sandy Run
Creek. Rutherford County was formed from Tryon Co. after the revolution,
and Sandy Run was then contained in Rutherford Co. In 1841, Cleveland Co.
was formed from part of Rutherford Co., locating the upper reaches and
headwaters of Sandy Run in Rutherford Co. and the lower reaches and mouth
in Cleveland Co.

I am trying to piece together land owenrship in the Sandy Run/Walls Church
area of Rutherford Co. in an effort to discover the identity of my
ggggrandfather. I believe I know his identity, and I have several deeds
mentioning the name of the woman I believe to be my ggggrandmother. I'm
trying to use DeedMapper to piece these parcels together with other
contemporary landowners and use that information, in conjunction with
church records and court records, to support my hypothesis.

I have been downloading USGS topographic maps (for free!) from the
Terraserver site, stitiching those maps together using Adobe Photoshop, and
using those composite maps as the backgrounds for my DeedMapper plots. I
have very few parcels plotted, but am hopeful of finding more time to
devote to the project in the future.
