I don't understand why you would scan a map that can be downloaded. I
download PDF topos from MapCard and convert them to TIF files, import them into
DeedMapper and plat on them. I save them as TIF files and convert them back
to PDFs which give me clearer results. The same can be done for satellite
photos. The biggest problem is that when you take a TIF map back out of DM you
do not get the entire map. This continues to be a problem. I found long ago
that scanning decreases the clarity of the maps, just as placing overlays on
them does.
