After a couple of very thoughtful replies and some further study, I
wanted to add an additional example to my question about this format
I am working with in 1780 SC deeds:

NW 25o"62"00
SE 46o"44"72
NW 75o"54"80

As one responder suggested, these measurements may be degrees,
chains, links since numbers in the latter two numbers sometimes read
more than 60 (not likely if they expressed minutes and seconds).

But how do I enter this into the deed form then?
