Gwen;
Thank you for getting back to me. Deputy Johnson was shown 1850 Sussex
county, Cedar Creek Hundred with Rebecca Johnson age 12. He was 28 at the
time. (Hopefully it was his sister) On the 1850 census (in another
household) is shown Elizabeth Deputy age 70, another neighbor is Solomon
Deputy age 30, shown with wife Nancy and four children. There are also a
lot of Webb families on this particular census. 1860 Deputy Johnson living
in Nanticoke Hundred with wife and children. Rebeccas name is not listed.
1870 living back in Cedar Creek Hundred with wife and children. 1880 they
are living in East South Murderkill Hundred. Household includes Deputy, his
wife Elizabeth(Lizzie), children; Richard, Cochran, Sarah, Annie, James,
Bayard, granddaughter Otisa Hammond and an orphan, Louiza Master. By this
time their oldest daughter Elizabeth is married and living elsewhere.
Anything you can find on Deputys parents or when and where he died would be
appreciated.
Joan
