Hi Kevin
I recently visited Andersonville Prison site on March 17, 2002 . I took with
me what I thought was enough documentation to show that my great grandfather
Reuben Anderson was a prisoner there from June 11,1864 until he was paroled
in a prisoner exchange on December 6,1864 .He was captured in June 1864 at
Ballarricus X Roads Guntown,MS. He was a member of Company G 19th PA
Calvary.I presented my documation to the people at the site which consisted
of statement from my Great Grand father to a officer giving a account of his
serrvice and that he was a prisoner at Andersonville. Company muster Rolls
from Company G 19th PA Cav.showing him missing in action at Guntown MS from
June 10,1864. Records showing that he was a paroled prisoner.
I spoke with a park ranger female who was vary nice and also a gentleman who
directed me to Park Ranger to get my grand father registered. I have since
sent copies of his pension records and other military papers on March
25,2002.
I recieved a E-mail from Alan March, Cultural
ResourcesSpecialist,Andersonville,NHS
that had beeen sent the day I left home to visit Andersonville. He request
the pension and military record that I had taken with me to the site or have
since sent. He further stated that It would take some time to review the
records and determine if he was a prisoner and add his name to the data base.

I just want to make sure that My great Grandfathers name is added to the data
base There is no doubt in my mind that he was a prisoner there. The main
reason I'm trying to have this done as soon as possibe is that my uncle,
Reubens grandson is in his eighties and in a nursing home and not in vary
good health.I know it would mean a lot to him to know that his grandfather
has been registered.
I know that these things take time I guess I'm just a little anxious. If you
can just check to see how the process is going from time to time I would
appreciate it.I checked the data base yesterday and his name was not yet
listed.

Thank You
Bob Shaw
