Hi Everyone, I just had to join in on this. Perhaps someone in power in a
cemetary organization can explain the reason for these exorbitant fees in
Delaware! I have had the same situation with Mt. Salem Cemetary in
Wilmington. It is very annoying! I am in NJ and the cemetary information I
have looked into is FREE! One cemetary even lets you look through your
records by yourself. I have only ever been charged once and that was a list
of about 20 names/dates etc. that costs me $2 for postage/handling. The
people here will give you answers over the phone and have been unfailingly
kind and helpful.
It seems a shame to me also as it gives Delaware research a bad name and I
have found the Archives to be very helpful and efficient and REASONABLE in
cost over the phone and with mail order.
Can anyone explain this policy? I have a great grandfather buried in Mt.
Salem and would love info on who he is buried with as I am stuck on this line.
I just consider the fee a kind of extortion--they know we need/want the
information and can't get it any other way! Thanks for letting me air my
opinion! Kathy
