Subject: Marraige Records Prior to 1857 in DE/PA/MD triangle

Patrick McDERMOTT and Brigid DEEGAN are in Delaware in the 1860 census.
They have two children born in 1857 and 1859. I believe when they left
Ireland they were not married to each other. They were Catholics. Can
anyone offer me a suggestion on how to begin searching for a marriage record
when I have so little information?

I contacted the Diocesan Archives when I tried to find baptismal records for
their children but I never heard back from them so that does not seem a
likely route for a marriage record when I have so little information to go
on.
