NEW CASTLE COUNTY DELAWARE LAND RECORDS 1673-1710 by Carol Bryant

Patent. On 05 Nov 1674 Edmund ANDROS, Esq Lt Governor General of his royal
highness James, Duke of York & Albany & all the territories in the Americas,
sends greetings. Whereas there is a tract of land on the west side of the
Delaware River called Hamptom which by virtue of a warrant was laid out to
John OGLE, said land lying on the south side of St George's Creek bounded by
the creek, land of George MOORE and land of Bernard EGBURTS containing 300
acres. Now confirmed unto John OGLE & him paying 3 bushels of winter wheat
to officers of authority. Signed Edmund ANDROS. Recorded by Mathias NICOLS.

On the back side of the above patent was a deed dated 30 Dec 1679 from John
OGLE, planter, & Elizabeth his wife, of Christiana Creek to Augustine DIXON
of St George's Creek, planter. (A1:49)

Deed. On 16 Aug 1706 Harman ALLRICHS of the county of New Castle, merchant,
to Ellis HUMPHREYS of St George's Creek, yeoman. Whereas there is a tract of
land situated on the south side of St George's Creek bounded by Doctor's
Swamp & land of Bernard EGBERTS containing 100 acres, which said tract was
granted by Edware BLAY of Cecil county in the province of Maryland & Anne
his wife to Thomas THAXSTONE of Cecil county in the province of Maryland by
deed dated 22 Apr 1702. Thomas THAXSTONE by deed dated 28 Nov 1702 granted
the said tract to Harman ALLRICHS. Now Harmans ALLRICHS for 20 pounds
granted to Ellis HUMPHREY all the said tract of land containing 100 acres.

Deed. On 18 Mary 1720 Thomas SMITH & Richard SMITH of the county of Salem in
the province of New Jersey, sons & heirs of Robert SMITH, late of St Georges
Creek, yeoman, dec'd to Sampson ATKINSON of St Georges Creek, yeoman. Thomas
SMITH & Richard SMITH for 63 pounds granted to Sampson ATKINSON a tract of
land on the south side of St Georges Creek bounded by land of John ELLITS
containing 150 acres being the one half part or moiety of a tract of land
containing 300 acres which Edmond ANDRES by patent dated 05 Nov 1675 granted
to Barnhard EGBERTS & by John GARRETTSON & Abiah his wife, heirs apparent of
the said EGBERTS by their deed dated 16 Mar 1695 granted to Edward GIBBS.
Henry GIBBS, Edward GIBBS & Benjamin GIBBS, sons & heirs of Edward GIBBS by
deed dated 02 Feb 1713 granted to Robert SMITH, yeoman, dec'd which said
premises were late in the possession of Thomas SMITH & Richard SMITH but now
by virtue of the statue for transferring of Uses in Possession, the part of
moiety above mentioned is now in the possession of Sampson ATKINSON. Signed
Thomas SMITH & Ricahrd SMITH. Delivered in the presence of Joseph STEWARD &
Garrot DUSHEN. Recorded 23 Feb 1722. (G1:12)
