I wish I knew, my guess is though that the Gibson's of Newcastle are most likely connected. my problem is that I can not on paper put my Gibson line together in Delaware . I have been using bible records of my family and old letters and some history pages on descendents that list parents . so I know Joseph Gibson and Nancy are Mary Ann Gibson's parents from an autobiography of her husband's that states Mary Ann (Gibson) Crawford was born in Brandywine Newcastle Delaware her parents Joseph and Nancy Gibson are veterans of Delaware. their children's names are listed in some Bible records I have . Thomas, Mary Ann, and Andrew. Listing dates. Joseph Gibson's wife I discovered her maiden name through a photo of her sister and her son Thomas Cartmell . I was able to track back Thomas's mothers name and found that Nancy was a nickname for Ann . then I pulled in the Weldon/ Weldin name from a letter were Mary Ann is telling her son about her grandmother Gibson who had a brother na!
med Joseph Weldon who's farm connected to her fathers. Gibson names I think are connected are Jacob, Thomas , and Andrew earliest names I can find in Brandywine Newcastle .

<< Hello Anita,
I found this in a booklet that I have "Neighbors of
the Wilmington-Great Vally Turnpike"
Weldon is not my family

pg.48 Record of the Weldin family
record given by Mrs. Charles Bird
It says:
Jocob Weldin b. abt 1700 d. abt 1775 resided on a farm
in Brandywine Hundred, New Castle Co. De.
He was a blacksmith by trade, owned 200 acres of
upland and a tract of marsh land on Cherry Island.
He was an active member of the Friends Meeting at
Newark, which was nearby. The plain tomb stones in
the old burying ground gives no names or dates to help
us to know his wife's name or dates usually recorded.
Children:
Isaac b. abt 1720 d. Sept. 1788
Joseph b. 1722 d. Nov. 1, 1783
John
** There were probably several daughters as the
records of the Swede's Church at Wilmington show the
marriages of Mary, Elizabeth, Eliza, Jeannette and two
Sarahs between 1748 and 1752 who may have been sisters
and cousins of Isaac and Joseph.

So maybe you could check out the church records.
I believe they are on line. I hope this helps.
