John,
If he worked at the Powder Mill you most certainly have to go to the Soda
House. Ask for whatever records they have on that explosion and also the
Brandywine Manufactures Sunday School Records. If he was Catholic you will
want to look in the cemetery at St. Joseph's on the Brandywine Church which
is near the museum. It has been divided by the road so look in the churchyard
and the cemetery by the museum. When you get there you will see what I mean.
Other churches are Mt. Salem which is Methodist it has a cemetery. Greenhill
Presb. off of Rt. 52 and Christ Church which is back by the Soda house. I
don't think Christ Church has a cemetery. You will find them very helpful if
you just tell them what your looking for and the dates. I would think they
could give you specific directions to these churches and other places from
that location, it might be easier for you to find them that way. The great
thing about Delaware is its size. You can cover a lot of ground in a short
while and the area in which you will be looking is beautiful. You might want
to include a tour of the museum.
I hope this helps and goodluck
Sharon
