1778.  Mentions wife Catharine.  Children, David, Ann, Joseph, Executors,
David Jones.  Witnesses, James Jones, Jr., Hannah Roberts, Nat. Sellers.
    The Jones property extended between Overbrook and Haddington.  Part,
or
perhaps all of the original tract, bore the  Welsh name of
"Rosy-en-wyth".

Thomas of Merion, dec'd, at Merion Meeting House;   Wit:  Katharine,

1779.  Signed April 13, 1775.  Mentions Cousins Jane, Ellen and Hannah

Roberts;  Jonathan, Thomas and John Robeson;  Ellen, Hannah, Elizabeth
and
Rebecca Roberts.  Friends, Daniel Lloyd, Elizabeth Wells;  Joseph, Henry
and Mary Wells;  Rebecca Ward;  Elizabeth Jones.  Executors, Owen and
John
Roberts.  Witnesses, Abraham Walters, Isaac Warner.
    The name of Edward Roberts appears on the List of Taxables for 1769,
taxed
9 £. 14 s. 6 d.   Also, the name of another Edwards Roberts, no amount
specified.  In 1774, Edward Roberts, 150 acres, and another Edward
Roberts,
no property mentioned.  In 1779,  "Edward Robert's estate", taxed,
and  Edward Roberts, no amount specified.
    The Edward Roberts, whose will was proved July 9, 1779, belonged to
the
Mill Creek family.
    One Edward Roberts of Lower Merion was the twelfth and last child of
John
Roberts of Pencoyd, and Rebecca Jones, his wife, and was born Jan. 1,
1755.

    Rees Thomson died July 14, 1779, aged 23 years.

    Dorothea Bealer, Merion, died about 1779.
    "D. Bealart's estate" is mentioned in the List of Taxables for Lower
Merion, 1779.  "Dorothea Bealeart's est'e", on another List of Taxables
for
1779.
    Mary Latch, 1 st daughter of Jacob and Dority Baler, departed this
life
September 1 st 1813, aged ___ years ____ months.
    Rudolph Latch was married to Mary Bealeart, March 5, 1755.
    Dorothea Bealer was the widow of Jacob Bealer, the Elder (d. 1776). 
Their children were Mary, Jacob, David, Susannah, Elizabeth.
    Jacob Bealer married Lydia Edwards, Jan. 23, 1762 (date of License).
    David Bealer married Mary Fultz, July 29, 1767 (date of License).
    Jacob Bealert (Behlert) and Lydia Edwards, married Feb. 6, 1762.
    David Bealer (Bealert) and Mary Fultz, married Aug. 1, 1767.
    These marriages recorded at St. Michael's and Zion Church, Phila.

    Rebecca Roberts died Dec. 8, 1779, aged 60 years.  She was the wife
of
John Roberts of Pancoyd (1710-1776) and daughter of Jonathan Jones of
Wynnewood.
    Will proved Jan. 1, 1780.  Signed May 1, 1778.  She mentions her
children
Algernon, Elizabeth, Tacy, Jonathan, Benjamin, John, Robert,
Edward.  Grandchildren: - Charles, son of John and Tacy Palmer;   John,
son
of Benjamin Roberts;  and Ashua Palmer;  Rebecca and Elizabeth
Palmer.  Servant lad, Samuel Williamson. Executors, John and Algernon
Roberts.  Witnesses, John Lewis, Joseph Price.
    3, 4, 1733.  John Roberts, son of Robert Roberts of Merion;  and
Rebecca
Jones, dau.of Jonathan of the same place, at Merion Meeting
House.  Wit:  Robert, Sydney, Phineas, Elizabeth and Sydney
Roberts;  Jonathan, Gainor, Edward, Owen, Mary, Martha, Charity, Hannah,
John and Mary Jones.
    The tombstone of Rebecca Roberts is the oldest in the burial-
ground.  It
is No. 19, in Row D, the Old Roberts Row.
    The name Roberts (of the Pencoyd family) is on Scull & Heap's Map,
1750,
and Faden's Map, 1777.

        Isaac Warner, 2 Mo. 9, 1780.

        Rachel Warner, daughter to Isaac Warner, 2 Mo. 9, 1780.

        James Winters, 1780.  See 1803.
        James Winter and Ann Smith were married July 31, 1764.  Marriage
recorded at Swedes' Church.  Philadelphia.
        The name of James Winter appears on the List of Taxables for
Merion,
1779, 1780, 1769, 1783, 1786.
        One James Winter of Lower Merion died 1803.  Will recorded at
Norristown.  Mentions his nephew Benjamin Holland and his son, James
Winter
Holland.  "My wife Ann Winter",  Nephew, John Fisher.  Executors, Nephew
Benjamin Holland and friend Llewellyn Young.  Signed Sept. 8, 1793. 
Witnesses, Archibald Menzies, Thomas Brown, James Thomson.  Proved at
Noristown, Dec. 10, 1803. 
        Elizabeth Winter and Michael Fisher were married Feb. 20, 1760.

        Jane Williams died 8 Mo. 1780.  She was the daughter of Thomas
Oldman
of Philadelphia, and wife of Daniel Williams of the Blockley family, 
Signer
of the Non-Importation Act (1765).
        They had 15 children, most of whom died young.  They were:

There were 3 Daniels, 2 Marys, and 2 Sarahs.
        Ennion was Major Ennion Williams of the Continental Army.  He
married
and left childdren.
        The name Williams (of the Blockley family) is on Scull & Heap's
may,
1750, and Faden's Map 1777.
        Sarah Williams, daughter of *  (* Changed from John to Daniel
apparently by the author.) Daniel and Jane Williams,  married John
Moulson,
and had a son, John Moulson, Jr. who left children.

        Jane Smith, Isaac Lewis's mother, 8 Mo. 30, 1780. 
        Jane Smith was the wife of John Smith, of Lower Merion, whose
will
was signed, 1777.  Proved in Chester Co. Pa., on Nov. 13, 1780. Recorded
at
West Chester.
        He mentions his wife Jane Smith;  his brother Christopher
Smith;  his
step-daughter, Rachel Lewis;  his step-son, Isaac Lewis.   Also mentions
John
Edwards of Virginia; and his brother Thomas Edwards.  Also Amy Edwards,
living at Smith's.   Witnesses, Thomas George and Mary Coulter.

        8, 9, 1711.  Thomas Lewis, son of Ralph of Haverford, dec'd., and
Jane Meredith, dau. of Rees of Radnor, at Radnor meeting H. Wit:  Ralph,

        5, 21, 1778.  Isaac Lewis of Lower Merion, son of Thomas dec'd,
and
Jane; - and Ellin Roberts, of the same place, widow, dau. of Gerrard
Jones,
dec'd, at Merion Meeting House.  Wit:  Silas, Esther, Paul, Phebe, and
Margaret Jones;  Rachel Lewis; David, Robert and Robert Roberts.
        Isaac Lewis and Ellin, his wife, had a son Nathan Lewis who
married
Elizabeth Levering (a daughter of Anthony Levering, and Sarah Howell, his
wife.)
        Nathan Lewis and Elizabeth, his wife, had a son, Isaac Lewis of
Lower
Merion (still living, 1909, aged over 90).
        The marriage of Johannes Schmidt and Jane Lewis, wid. March, 14,
1757, is recorded at St. Michael's and Zion Church, Philadelphia.

1781
        A Soldier died at David Gill's 1 Mo. 6, 1781.

        Joseph Turner, Blockley.  Will proved Jan. 8, 1781. 
        The name of Joseph Turner appears on the list of Taxables for
Blockley, 1769, 1774, 1779, 1780.
        The Will of Joseph Turner was signed Aug. 10, 1780.  He mentions
his
wife, Isabella.  Children, Ann, Elizabeth, George, Joseph.  Nieces,
Hannah,
Ann.  Executors, Edward Williams, Isaac Grey.  Witnesses, James Worrell,
Edward Haley, Peter Worrell.
        The name Turner appears on Scull & Heap's Map, 1750.  The house
is
located near the Marshall Road ( a part of which is now Walnut Street,
West
Philadelphia.)  The name Turner is also on Faden's May, 1777.

        Isaac Kite, Blockley, 3 Mo. 7, 1781.  He was the eldest son of
Abraham Kite and Mary Peters, his wife; grandson of James Kite of
Blockley,
and Mary Warner, his wife (dau. of Wm. and Ann.)
        Isaac Kite married April 2, 1749, Catharine daughter of Anthony
and
Mary Tunis.
        4, 2, 1749.  Isaac Kite, son of Abraham of Blockley, dec'd, and
Katharine Tunis, dau. of Anthony of Merion, at Merion Meeting House. 
Wit: 
Mary, James and Thomas Kite;  Anthony, Mary, Alice, Agnes, Hannah,

20, 1762;  d. Sept. 17, 1842; m. July 24, 1793, Robert Henvis.); Hannah

        James Moore, Blockley, 3 Mo. 13, 1781.  Will signed Oct. 30,
1780. 
Proved, Philadelphia, March 17, 1781.  Mentions children Amos, Martha,
Mary.

        The name of James Moore is on the List of Taxables for Blockley,
1769.

        John Jones' child, 5 Mo. 12, 1781.

        Bartle Righter's daughter, 8 Mo. 2, 1781.  The name Bartle
Righter
appears on the List of Taxables for Lower Merion, 1779, 1780, 1769, 1783.

        John Robeson's child, 8 Mo. 16, 1681.  The family resided on Mill
Creek, Lower Merion.  The Robesons were early settlers on the
Wissahickon.
        John Robison and Judith Hampton were married July 17, 1768.

        Rudeman Robinson was an early settler at the mouth of the
Wissahickon.  His name appears on Read's Map of First Purchasers.
        John Robeson, Sen'r, and John Robeson, Jun'r, are mentioned in
the
List of Taxables for Lower Merion. 1780, 1783.
        Andrew Robeson was a Provincial Councillor, and a "First
Purchaser".
        The name Robeson was also written Robinson and Robbins.

        Mary Hesten, wife of Edward Hesten, daughter of Evan Griffith,
10 Mo. 22, 1781. Born 1747-8.
        Edward Heston, son of Jacob Heston of Blockley, married Mary
Warner, daughter of John Warner *  (* Changed from Jacob to John Warner
apparently by the author) of Blockley, at Merion 1739-40.
        11, 11, 1739-40.  Jacob Heston of Wrightstown, Bucks Co. and
Mary Warner, dau. of John of Blockley, at Merion Meeting House.  Wit;
Zebulon and Thomas Heston;  John, Mary, Joseph, Isaac, Elizabeth,
Esther, Susannah, Edward, John and Arnold Warner.
        11, 17, 1768.  Edward Heston of Blockley, farmer, son of Jacob,
late of Makefield Twp., Bucks Co., dec'd, - and Mary Griffith of Merion,
dec'd  (*name of father apparently left out) at Merion Meeting House. 
Wit;  Mary, Jesse, Jacob, Zebulon, Elizabeth, Thomas and John Heston; 
Bathsheba and Susannah Griffith.
        The name of Edward Hestin is on the List of Taxables for
Blockley,
1769, Edward Haston, 1774, Edward Heston, 1779, 1780, 1783.
        Edward Heston built "Heston Villa", near Fifty Second Street and
the
Old Lancaster Road, in Blockley Township.  He founded Hestonville, now
included in West Philadelphia.  He served as a Colonen in the
Revolutionary
Army, and Member of the Penna.  Legislature.  He is buried in Woodlands
Cemetery, Philadelphia.
        His second wife was Sarah Hall, daughter of Mahlon Hall of
Blockley.
        Jacob Heston of Wrightstown was the son of Zebulon Heston, of
Heston,
near London, England.  Zebulon was a preacher among the Friends.  In
1699, he
went to New England, where he found his Quaker principles unpopular. 
Hence,
he made his way thro' New York and New Jersey to Bucks Co. Pa. where he
remained.  Numerous descendants of Zebulon Heston reside in Bucks County.
        The Children of Edward Heston, and his first wife, Mary
Griffith, were 6 in number, viz:  Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Thomas,
Bathsheba (Betty) and Mary (Polly).
        Mary, at the age of sixteen *  (* changed apparently by the
author
form fourteen to sixteen) married Mahlon Hall, Jr.  the brother of her
step-mother, Sarah ** (** Changed apparently by the author from Mary to
Sarah.) Hall.  Mary's children were,  Ed., William, Mahlon, Thomas, John,
Isaac, James and Sarah (m. Edward Dickinson).
        Mary Heston Hall m. (2) Wm. Saunders. 1 son. *** (*** name Samuel
Saunders crossed out apparently by the author).
        Mahlon Hall (b. 11, 29, 1759; died 4, 7, 1805) married 5 Mo. 15,
1791, Mary Heston ( b. 3, 26, 1775; died 12 Mo. 12, 1858). Mahlon Hall,
in
1793, built the stone house, 19th and Parkside Ave., which stood until
1911. 
Children of Mahlon Hall, and Mary Heston, his wife, were.
        I. Edward Hall ( b. at Hestonville, 4, 30, 1792;  d. 4, 10,
1831;  m.
at West Chester, 2, 5, 1816, Jane Paxson, dau. of Benjamin and Jane, of
Solebury, Bucks Co. Pa.  They removed to Columbiana Co., Ohio about
1820, and
after his death, his widow married Abraham Heston.)
        II.  Mahlon Hall (b. 3 Mo. 11, 1793;  d. 11, 3, 1872; m. Hannah
Hampton and Isabella Robinson.)
        III.  Thomas W. Hall (b. 3 Mo. 4, 1795; d. Clan Township,
Chester Co.
Pa., 4 Mo. 7, 1896; m. Mary Heston, dau.  of Abraham Heston).
        IV.  Isaac Hall (b. 4, 29, 1796; d. 4, 21, 1810)
        V.  John Hall (b. 8, 17, 1797;  d. 2 Mo. 3, 1897; m. 10, 23,
1862,
Sarah Thatcher Yarnall, widow.  No children.  Lived near Hestonville,
until
1872, then removed to West Chester, Pa.)
        VI.  James Hall (b. 11, 24, 1798;  d. in West Chester, 10, 4,
1876,
unmarried).
        VII.  William Hall (b. 1, 21, 1801;  d. in West Chester, 5, 20,
1886;  m. Ann Paxson.  No children).
        VIII. Sarah Hall (b. 12, 28, 1802; d. in West Chester, 2 Mo. 3,
1900;  m. Edward Dickinson, and had one daughter, who died young.)
        IX. Ann (b. 3 Mo. 28, 1804; died 12, 23, 1813).

        Eleanor Lloyd, 11 Mo. 31, 1781.  The name of Eleanor Lloyd is on
the
List of Taxables for Lower Merion, 1780.

        John Harper (a pauper) 12 Mo. 6, 1781.

        Gerrard Jones, eldest son of Robert and Ellin Jones, of
"Glanrason",
in Merion, b. 12, Mo. 28, 1705-6, died there prior to 1782.  (See 1765)
        His first wife was Sarah, daughter of Robert and Lowry Lloyd of
Merion.
        His second wife was Ann, daughter of Benjamin Humphrey.
        The children of his first wife, were:  Priscilla, b. 1730,
supposed
to have died unmarried;  Robert, b. 1731;  Silas b. 1733;  Ellin, who m.
(1)
Robert Roberts, (2) Isaac Lewis;  Paul who m. Phebe Roberts;  Sarah d.
in infancy.
        The children of the second wife were, Benjamin and Edward.
        10, 23, 1742.  Gerrard Jones, son of Robert of Merion, - and Ann
Humphreys, dau. of Benjamin, dec'd, at Merion Meeting House.  Wit: 
Robert,
