Well, you didn't tell us when he was born. That would help put this
into perspective. And he would have had to get his medical degree,
after college, from a Medical School. I've never heard of a St. Mary's
College in Wilmington but I did a google.com search for: "st mary's
college" +wilmington
and found, among others:
http://www.msmary.edu/
Mount St. Mary's College. This is a Catholic College and Seminary in
Baltimore, MD. Founded in 1808.
http://www.smcm.edu/
St. Mary's College of Maryland. Non-sectarian. Founded 1840 as a
women's seminary and "the occasional male day-student."
http://www.famousamericans.net/williamhypolituskeating/
"William Valentine, physician, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 4
April, 1823, was graduated at St. Mary's college, Baltimore, in 1840,
and, after receiving his medical degree at the University of
Pennsylvania in 1844, began to practice in Philadelphia."
http://www.virtualology.com/allanmclane/
"born in Wilmington, Delaware, 23 June, 1815, after attending a private
school in his native city (Wilmington) and St. Mary's college,
Baltimore..."
I again searched google.com and for: "seton hall" and there were a lot
of hits, including these:
The web page for Seton Hall University in Newark, NJ is:
http://law.shu.edu/
Seems to have been created in 1856. There is a "School of Graduate
Medical Education, whatever that is at: http://gradmeded.shu.edu/
There is a Seton Hall Prep in West Orange, NJ:
"Founded in 1856, Seton Hall is the oldest Catholic college preparatory
school in New Jersey. The Prep provides an academically demanding
environment to approximately 900 young men from a diverse spectrum of
over 105 towns in the northern part of New Jersey."
So it seems both colleges are still in existence, one in MD, the other
in NJ.
