Deed. 28 Aug 1772. John Butcher and Jane his wife, of St George's
Hundred in New Castle County, for the sum of 20 pounds sold unto John
Meriss of same place, a lot of meadow, ground situate in Red Lion
Hundred in sd Co (part of a larger piece that Butcher bought of
Jonathan WOODLAND.) It bounds St. George's Creek and contains 11 acres
and 33 perches. George Reed and/or John Jones appointed Attnys.
