Hej Ian,
> Did that teaching method work, did you actually learn to play an instrument?
Hm, yes :-) I learned for 11 years, and passed 7th grade piano when I was 16 -
that's just above University entrance level.
Also played the pipe organ at Wesley Church in Portland. Lovely foot pedals,
which got damp and every now and then got stuck, and sounded like a ship's
siren. (My favourite part - I used to play an organ voluntary with a note in it
that *always* got stuck).
Oh, and a brief career on the double bass, in the Portland High School
orchestra. Could still sing you the bass part of God Save The Queen....and
something or other which we had to play pizzicato :-)
Piano was always a bit of a penance for me - although I liked Handel, and Bach's
Preludes and Fugues. (Interesting patterns). Computers are more fun :-)
> PS I note the odd abbreviation creeping in!
Apologies - if you're referring to CAEMA, I can't remember what it stood for.
Something to do with Music and the Arts. Council for Adult Education in Music
and the Arts, maybe?
Cheers,
Lesley
