Has any one here done that?"
I have been working on the Gelting Parish records, including "Die
Chronik des Kirchspiels Gelting" as a secondary source to assemble my
family name. Probate records seem to be scarce for this region so I have
had to rely on these records. These records did lead me to Denmark when
one of the records mentioned that the family had migrated to Denmark
about 1785. With this information I started searching the DDD for the
Kaysen family name. Very quickly the indexes identified three brothers
who migrated from Gelting in the 1780's. If they had not mentioned the
wife's name in the records there would have been no way to verify this
information. I have not searched the probate records from Denmark but
have started to search the data base of the FHL to see what is the best
attach. I suspect that I will find some useful information as this
family name did become successful landowners.
So a simple answer is, no, but I think it is an idea that is worth
pursuing.
