Inge,

I have a copy of 1895 Illinois Marriage License, it states both bride and grooms full name, grooms current address, name of minister to perform services and even had one of the witnesses names. If your relative was Lutheran, which is likely, the ECLA archives can tell you what church the minister was associated with at the time of the marriage. They even gave me the address and phone number of the church. This is a worth while avenue to pursue.
