Paula - thank you so much for the earlier urls and the info below. I
have had a chance to look at the websites and do not find my Jorgen's
name in 1867, nor Anna's and children in 1869. BUT, no news is always
good news, at least, one possible source has now been eliminated. I do
not, as yet, know what his arrival port was in US, but the family
supposedly sailed to Quebec, then traveled overland ultimately to Des
Moines, Iowa. There must be some logic to that, but aside from the
large numbers of Danes already in Iowa, and the job market with the
railroads, I haven't figured it out. Nor have I been able to find them
in the Des Moines or Polk Co. 1870 census - one, possible in a city
directory in early 1870's, but not enough to go on.

Anyway, thanks for all your help - I will return to the Mormon
Scandinavian site again, just to be sure I didn't miss him.
Eleanor

My friend says it's just called the Mormon Immigration CD. It's not
just Scandinavian immigrants. I think it runs only on Windows, which
is why I haven't bought it. Your local FHC might have it, or you can
probably get information about ordering one at the FHC. Paula
