1)What kind of price do you want to pay?
2)Location near to family history library?
3)Rent a car and it is an easy drive to the local canyons or up to Park
City, etc. Most of these are 20 minutes to 30 minutes away from downtown.
4)Temple square tour is a must(Joseph Smith Building to see the movie,
Beehive House,; Brighton, Alta, Park City)
Just opened a brand new planetarium(state of the art)
The Gateway(new center with many restaurants and shops) and ZCMI mall for
shopping downtown
spectacular new main city library building downtown
5)some relatively good ones:
Little America telephone 801-363-6781 (moderate/excellent food)
(can ride trax from front of hotel to downtown and university
or out farther south)
The Inn at Temple Square 1-800-843-4688 moderately expensive;
excellent location and food)
(right across from Temple Square and less than 1 block from
FHL)
Crystal Inn 1-801-328-4466 (moderate)
(if you walk this is about 5 to 6 blocks away)
Marriott Courtyard 1-801-531-6000 (or 1-800-321-2211)
(there are 3 of these in the downtown area--depending on
what you want--these are relatively moderate prices)
6) there are some extended stay places (say a week with a suite and cooking,
etc.) but they are usually farther away from downtown--
Extended Stay America 1-801-567-9404 (1-800-398-7829)
(you would have to have a car or take bus to trax and then
take trax to downtown)

There are many others.
