Hi Jan,
If you go to Google and enter Anders Rudolf, among 1769 other hits, you will get:
Anders Randolf
Actor
Born: December 18, 1870
Died: July 3, 1930
In a 1922 article in the Toledo Blade, veteran character actor Anders Randolf summed up his career in motion pictures: "I've been shot; I've been stabbed to the heart; I've been electrocuted: I've drowned; fallen off a cliff; dropped dead from heart failure. In fact, I've died or been killed in every photoplay I've appeared in." A professional soldier...

> Dear Cai,
What a wonderful surprise on a Saturday morning!! Thanks so much for the
translation. Yes, I guess that our Hassing really moved up in the world,
in
a rather short time too, it seems. The story that I got from the widow of
Anders Randolf's grandson is that he worked as a servant for the king,
then
became the minister of transport. Wish I could get her to tell me more,
but
it seems that she doesn't really know much more! Everyone who knows is
gone!
As for Anders Randolf, I thought that both those names were first names
too,
and am terribly afraid that I will never find out who he REALLY was! I am
almost positive that he changed his name when he came to the US. His
daughter, Karen Randolf, who was born in the US, went back to Denmark with
her mother, Dorthea Jorgensen Randolf. Karen became an interpreter at the
Neurenburg Trials. I think there are mysteries in Denmark, many, many
mysteries. Grandpa was the black sheep of the family, it seems, and I
would
LOVE to know why. He came to the us in 1910, went into the US Army in
1916,
and re-enlisted in 1919. Was discharged in 1921 and naturalized. I know
that he met his wife in Germany, married her in Denmark, their child (my
mother in law) was born in Germany, baptised in Denmark. When Carl
Jorgensen came back to the US with the Army, his wife and child did not
come
back with him. I can find no record of their ever entering the US. But I
have know that they lived in Brooklyn, NY, then in NJ. There is just a
big
gap from 1921 to about 1935. I can't find them on census records here, or
ship manifests. I think they must have paddled over in a canoe!
Thanks again for your help!! This list is so full of wonderful folks who
don't mind spending some time ferreting out facts for those of us who know
nothing about Denmark and it's people. I read everything that crosses my
screen from DK, because I want to learn more, more more!

Jan,
Thank you for your kind remarks.
It says: Jens Hassing Jørgensen, (minister)
born Sept. 3, 1873 in Silkeborg.(a city in Denmark)
son of bank messenger Jørgensen; married
to Agnes - nee Dahl-Hansen
(Dahl-Hansen is the maiden name of Agnes)
Trained in Silkeborg Bank; Bank Manager in
Sæby and Esbjerg (town/city) ;
Manager in Revisionsbanken ( a bank) 1903 - 1913;
Minister for Transport in the Zahle* Government from 1913;
also interim Minister for Commerce 1913 - 16.
Managing Director in the
Commerce and Clerks Association 1914 -17
Address: H.C. Ørsteds Vej 46**, Copenhagen V
Notes:
*Zahle was the PrimeMinister(head of the National Government)
** A street address.
I see nothing about anyone having owned a Deli!
This Jens Hassing Jørgensen - a son of a simple
bank messenger - became a very important man, in Denmark!
Part 2: Jens Hassing Jørgensen's sister married
Anders Rudolph. Those are usually first names.
Hope this helps,
Cai

In 'Kraks blaa Bog' 1918 it says :
"Jørgensen, Jens Hassing Minister f. 3. Sept. 1873 i Silkeborg; Søn af
Bankbud Jørgensen; gift m. Agnes, f. Dahl-Hansen.
Lært i Silkeborg Bank; Bankdirektør i Sæby og Esbjerg; Direktør i
Revisionsbanken 1903-13; Trafikminister i Ministeriet Zahle fra 1913;
tillige Handelsminister ad interim 1913-16.
Formand i Direktionen i Handels-og Kontoristforeningen 1914-17.
Adresse : H. C. Ørsteds V. 46, Kbhvn. V."
Above is the entire message that I received from Werner. I don't
understand
Danish, so am not sure. But it looks like it says Son of Bankbud
Jorgensen.
Then I don't know what Dahl=Hansen is, maybe the father of Agnes? Then,
more about Banks! I took it that Jens Hassing was the Bander, until 1913,
when he became Trafikminister. I guess that's from 1913, I don't
understand
the rest, though.
2: I do have another question, though. One of the sisters of Jens Hassing
married Anders RANDOLF. He was born in 1873 or 1875, in Viborg
(somewhere).
I have just received a newspaper article about his death in 1930. At that
time, he was a movie actor, here in the US. The article states that he
was
also a stage actor on Broadway in New York, and an accomplished painter.
I
know there is a mention of his acting career in a Danish book about
Scandinavian actors in the US, and I am wondering if there might be such a
book in Denmark about artists, painters?
Thanks again. You answer so many questions, and always with such good
grace, and such good answers
