I guess there are two issues

1. the first table should have been labelled "Internet top level domain (country) codes compared with US Postal state codes".

I suppose a sensible guide is to first spell it out and, if you intend using an OLA, TLA, FLA or SLA,(NLA, ELA etc) follow with the code in brackets eg America (USA) and then if you use the abreviation or code elsewhere in the message we know what it is. The main offender aginst this rule are finance journalists who assume that everyone knows what a FTSE (footsie) is.

2. what happened to "OZ" (Code for Australia)

when I pull on my pizza covered T-shirt and my grunge gear and pretend that I am a perpetual student from the 80s I dream of the days when OZ was the shining symbol for all that was australia - late night Doom across the wire, beer in the computer room, never worrying about girls (they were just like blokes but with clean hair), spending 48 hours straight writing a C-code language OS for a z8000 and Pizzas. Not for us BigMacs, coke, gates and intel. And then along came CCITT and all those Engineers who insisted that we start using their TLAs (two letter acronyms/abreviations) as the top level domains in internet addresses so it went from SkyUNI.oz to SkyUNI.oz.au to UNSW.oz.au to UNSW.edu.oz.au to UNSW.edu.au. I too could have been "" (but I was too old!!)
