Hello all,

In looking into my wife's Danish ancestry, I find a family that used the
name "Koed," a name that was also perpetuated in female lines as a middle name.
(Also, in many cases it appears men marrying into the family assumed the
name as a last name.) Searching the census database, I find the use of the name
limited to Vejle and the nearby area.

Has anyone run into this name before? Is this a descriptive term of some
sort?
