I have posted a bunch of informative links about
Nikolaj Frederik Severin Grundtvig (1783-1872)
-- Bishop, Clergyman, Pioneer Educator, Teacher,
Writer, Poet, Hymn Writer (wrote many of the best
loved hymns of the Danish church), Philosopher,
Social Reformer, Historian, Politician, and more
in the Danish Connection.

I think one can readily claim that Grundtvig was one
of the most influential Danes in Danish history.

He married three time -- the last at the age of 76!!

For American of Danish descent - this may be of
interest --
Danish immigrants to America tended to be either
pro-Grundtvig --- the "happy Danes" --
or anti-Grundtvig --- the "Gloomy Danes".
The "happy" pro-Grundtvig Danes formed the
'American Evangelical Lutheran Church' -- while the
"gloomy" anti-Grundtvig Danes formed the
'United Evangelical Lutheran Church'.
