Paula,
Well I don't really have the answer to that, other than one back in those
day (1880) did have to tell the of such matters to the parish church (her
parish church was Horsens at that time!)- just as one had to be 'trolovet'
(betroth) (trial marriage) in your church prior to the proper marriage.
Financial support -- nah - not Horsens (I lived only 25 miles from Horsens
in 1979-81) - just kidding about Horsens --- but welfare from the church as
such was not really done.

Hi Cai-- Late afternoon here, in California, I was curious about this
-- was the birth reported to the parish in Horsens because of the
sin involved, or because the parish was responsible for providing
some financial care for the baby? I'm just learning about the system
in England where you were somewhat tied to a particular parish if you
were poor, and could be sent back to that parish if you'd moved and
couldn't support yourself. Was it something like that? Establishing a
claim on the parish for relief? Paula
