It seems our ancestors knew only so many names because each family seemed to
use the same ones over and over. I would have thought that would be
confusing. If 2 brothers named their children all the same, Robert, John,
Mary, etc...My grandmother's name was Josephine and she had 2 first cousins
named Josephine.
Makes it kind of confusing for us genealogists. Gayle
