Only 15 Seth Wards in 1881 census.
Only one was born in Derbyshire (c 1849) and there for the census.
Only one other Seth born c 1829 in Derby but in Yorkshire at census.
Nothing wrong in wife Elizabeth being 2 years older.
Do you know any of their childrens names that can be checked with the 1881
census.
Check 1871 and earlier census returns.
Check in Derbyshire marriage index's also IGI circa 1869 for marriage.
(Though Repton probably not parish of marriage).
If your Seth was alive in 1881 and lived in Derbyshire, having a wife called
Elizabeth then follow the one you first thought might be the correct person.
IGI has coverage of Repton from 1578 - 1881(1988 listings)
Keep on digging
Regards
John
