Hi all,

I was just going through a bunch of paper correspondence from the early
1980s (when as a young mom, I started my "hobby"). This stuff is all
pre-computer days so I didn't remember what I'd had in my (term used
loosely) files.

Although this would be a long--however heartwarming--story that I cannot
bore all members with, I had at the time struck up a correspondence with an
old man by the name of John EMERTON. Once it became apparent that John knew
and had grown up with my grandmother at 98 Parliament St (he lived right
next door), I just hooked the two of them up and they corresponded with one
another until the end.

I do have rellies right htere in Derby but for the life of me, I can't find
them. Mr EMERTON had helped me way back then and I'd found a cousin named
John TUNLEY who lived at 160 Stenson Rd in Derby (who lives there now I
wonder?). But what of the HARRISONs or the WESLIEs (variant spellings) or
the HEMMINGs or the TUNLEYs? Does anyone know of other researchers with
these names?

Anyway, I have a number of EMERTON family pics and some very valuable (to us
gennies) photos of John EMERTON's army days in India. Also of his family.
His wife was named Gladys and I wish I new her maiden name because I have a
lovely photograph of the young Gladys that I bet her descendents would
dearly love to have.

My grandmother died at 90 in 1998. I *think* Johnny (as she'd called him)
EMERTON must have died before that-between, say, about 1988 and 1998. Is
there a way to find his obit online? I would like to have it--as I said,
there was way more to this story and he was such a neat fellow.

Long shot, but I sometimes play the long shot.

Lee
