My father, Arthur Austin, who was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and whose
parents were from England, (Joseph Austin and Ellen Austin), served in France
and was gassed, and spent Nov 11 in the hospital in France. He said when the
Armistance was announced, that all the men who could get out of bed, stood up
and shouted and hugged each other, in jubilance. Daddy died in 1970 after many
years of living with the consequences of the injuries.
