It's possible that the same George Daft is grandfather to another
George who married Sarah Bates in 1838 in Wilne - she was my ggg Aunt
and their son, Reuben, lived for a short time with her sister and
family, my gg grandparents.
Through relations in Nottingham (not connected in any way to this
line, I spent a wonderful day travelling around that part of Notts,
Milford, Draycott Wilne, wondering why the Godber family had moved to
Ashton under Lyne in the 1850s. They were mostly cotton workers, it
just appeared more pleasant in the 20th century in the villages, than
it might have been in mid 19th century Lancs.
