Hi Carol,
There is indeed a Woodseats in Sheffield now. It was in Derbyshire until
about 1934 (Or was it 1911?. I stand to be corrected on the date!). The
boundaries of Sheffield have extended several times, over the years. But
be wary that this may not be the only area called Woodseats. There is a
Woodsetts north of Sheffield and one near Worksop. Spellings may vary!
It depends what 'registers' you mean. I would expect that most of the
census stuff that has been released would have Woodseats in Norton
Parish in Derbyshire. Surprisingly, I have found several civil
registrations for marriages of folk who lived in the area, under
Sheffield. Maybe they just got married in the nearest big town. I
suggest you keep an open mind on which county events may have been
recorded in, and even which county folk gave to the census enumerator as
their birthplace.
