Hi! I read the notes re. Delaware land records at Dover. I don't know why
Everton stated they were not available before 1785, but they are there.
Microfilm readers are available and the staff is most helpful.
Family Line Publications has printed copies of the land records for all three
counties, and they are reasonably priced. If you are interested, I will send
you their toll free number.. Many Colonial records are covered in the Duke of
York Records that were ordered printed by the state of Delaware a few years
ago, and yes, some are in NY and Pa.
I checked my Sussex Co. land records up to 1789 and found only one reference
to Pavey/Peavey: Deed. Samuel Pavey from Thomas Banning and wife Mary, 5 Jan.
1782. for f100. The tract was called Double Purchase and was in Northwest
For Hundred on the south side of Brights Branch, 65 acre. There also was
tract Bannings Chance of 35 acres. There was a reference to a a tract
Clarksons Industry, 26 acres 5 Jan. 1782.
The above land record is the only reference to a Peavy/Pavey in Sussex County
land records 1681-1725; 1722-1731; 1769-1782 and 1782-1789.. I hope to
complete the set one of these days. Hope this helps in your research.
