The Purnal/Purnel(l) Tindal(l)/Tindle/Tyndall's give one nightmares. I
think there are only three in this time period, primarily in Nanticoke
Hundred, but my relative also figures in some Kent Co. (Dover Hundred)
wills. Another was sherrif and, briefly, a Senator in Sussex Co.

Purnell Tindell (of William and Charlotte PURNELL) (I can't find the
source of this record.)
Purnal Tindall (of Samuel, Jr. and Agnes JONES) (b. c1770)
Purnell Tindal (of John and Betty SHORT) (b. c1785)

The PURNELL surname shows up in some earlier family records from
Worcester Co., MD. A Thomas PURNELL, Jr. married a Charlotte COLLINS.
Another sister, Lovinia (or Louisa) COLLINS, married Samuel TINDLE, Sr.
Subsequently a PURNELL daughter, Charlotte E., married a TINDELL son,
William, and (presumably) named a son Purnell Tindell. I always figured
the name derived from that family.

Per TAX LIST OF SOMERSET COUNTY - 1723 John Purnell, Sr and John
Purnell, Jr. resided in Mattaponie Hundred.
