Joyce,
A few names and dates, including for Caldwell Windsor, show up on a
sheet of paper left in a family Bible apparently owned by our ancestors
Joseph W. Wharton and Lurana Benson. I have no idea why the sheet of
Windsor information was in the Wharton Bible, as we never have discovered a
clear link between the two families (the Windsors and the Whartons). I
don't know that Caldwell was "famous;" he apparently was a "reverend," so he
might have been pretty well known in the area in his time.
Some additional information concerning the Windsors can be found in
Isaac Sullivan's diary, transcribed by Howard Dickerson.
It gets a little fuzzy, but it appears that Caldwell Windsor's parents
were Joseph Windsor (born circa 1735) and J. Patty [?]. Caldwell's children
included, besides Joseph H. Windsor, Polly C. Windsor (1792-1793), and Cyrus
C. Windsor (1803-1860) [Cyrus married Ann MARTIN].
I hope this helps! Do you see any connections?
Dave K
