While digging for my Daiseys, in the 1880 Sussex Co. census I came across a James M. Tyre, age 51, farmer, born MD, married to a Maria L. Tyre, age 43, born DE. The first 4 children are listed as step-children to James, and must be Maria's from a previous marriage. They are Charles W. Dasey, age 24, Joshua T. Dasey, age 21, John W. Dasey, age 18 and Lucinda Dasey, age 17. All were born in DE, as were both parents. The next 3 children are William M. Tyre, age 13, Elijah H. Tyre, age 10 and Peter Tyre, age 10. They were all born in DE. It also states that the both the father and the mother were born in MD. Don't know if this is accurate or an error on the part of the census taker. If the MD is correct as a birthplace for the children, then they are step-children to Maria. Does anyone have any info on any of these people? Also, in my mind, I am pronouncing this name as "tire". Then as I was searching on a marriage index CD, I realized that by adding an "e", it becom!
es the name "tie-ree", which everyone knows is a grand Irish name. Which is right?
