Was a marriage bond required? I have a Bible record that says my relatives
got married the 03 May 1841 in Sussex Co., but I recently received the marriage
bond (the only record DE Archives had) that is dated 25 May 1841. Wouldn't it
be unusual and unnecessary for the bond to obtained after the wedding? What
would be the usual waiting time after a bond was received? Their first baby
came in just 8 months after the May 3rd date. Maybe the date was deliberately
recorded incorrect!? Could this have been a shotgun wedding bond?
