Melinda, I agree with , I have found many of my Schlesien
ancestors using the FHC microfilm. But I also found that many of the
microfilm that I manually searched had been extracted and were in the
International Genealogical Index (IGI). I suggest that you begin by
searching for your ancestors in the database at www.familysearch.com. You
might want to even want to do an advanced search and limit your search to
the IGI. If you get a hit in the IGI, look at the source. It might be
submitted by a person or it might be extracted from a film. If it is
extracted from a film, it will give the microfilm number and if you want to
see the film, you will know which film to order. I hope you have as much
luck as I have with this resource.

Hello,
I have been researching in Schlesien for a number of years and the best
results that I have had came from the Family Hiistory Center Microfilm
Library. You may first want to contact them for possible help or go to web
site, http://www.familysearch.org or a new web site of theirs at
http://pilot.familysearch.org for additional info on Germany 1700 - 1900
Baptism and Marriages. Barry Hubert Beattie, San Marcos, San Diego Co., CA

ages of his children who were born in New York, it would be safe to say that
if he emigrated from Schlesien as an individual rather than with family he
would have done so in his very early twenties even late teens.
